POULTRY FARMING

Program Objective

The main objective of the Poultry Farming Program is to train qualified technical personnel equipped with the necessary knowledge, skills, and technological equipment for the healthy, efficient, and sustainable breeding of poultry such as chickens, turkeys, geese, ducks, and similar birds. The program aims to provide theoretical and practical education on animal welfare, hygiene, biosecurity, feeding, shelter management, reproduction, and disease control, thereby producing well-equipped graduates for the industry. Additionally, it aims for students to gain competencies that will enable them to be employed in poultry farming enterprises, feed and pharmaceutical companies, hatcheries, integrated poultry establishments, and public institutions after graduation.

Graduates of the Poultry Farming Program can be employed in a wide range of areas in both the public and private sectors. Graduates can find employment opportunities in the following areas:

Commercial broiler (meat chicken) and laying hen enterprises

Enterprises engaged in alternative poultry farming such as turkeys, ducks, and geese

Feed production companies and feed analysis laboratories

Hatcheries and breeding enterprises

Poultry meat and egg processing facilities

Veterinary clinics and animal health product companies

Provincial/district directorates of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry

Municipalities, provincial special administrations, and other public institutions

As technical personnel in livestock support and inspection projects

Conducting entrepreneurial activities by establishing their own poultry enterprise

 

Vertical Transferable Departments

Students who graduate from the Poultry Farming associate degree program can transfer to the following bachelor's programs through the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS) organized by ÖSYM:
